Kay Jaybee - Guest for the day #1

This year I'm excited to say Midnight Boudoir is expanding so fast I'm having trouble keeping up with her.
My review side is a full time hobby for me but have you ever wanted to know more about the people behind the books you read or the products you use. In the next few months I will be inviting people who you all know and love to appear on my site as guests, where they can take over Midnight Boudoir for a day so we can get to know them a bit better and find out more about their latest book or product.

This year I have had the honour of being able to review many of the latest books from our most popular erotic authors around. One of my favourite authors and many of yours too is the lovely Kay Jaybee; author of The Voyeur, The perfect Submissive, Sticky Situation and Not her type to name but a few that I have personally read; Perfect Submissive and the Voyeur being my absolute favourites.
Kay has just hit her 7th anniversary early this month  but where did this amazing success begin, how did she start, has she always dreamed of writing erotica?
I have so many questions and I'm sure you have too so I'm going to hand over to the gorgeous lady herself who I'm so honoured to have as a guest with me today...welcome to Midnight Boudoir Kay and thank you so much for being my very first Guest.

First Thoughts
I am thrilled to bits to be here on Midnight’s wonderful site to help her kick off the first in a series of guest author blogs!
As this is an inaugural blog, it seemed more appropriate to chat about my beginnings as an erotic writer.
My journey began 7 years ago- I was sat in a cafe in Scotland eating a chocolate scone, staring out of the window, enjoying a very rare day of freedom, on my youngest child’s first day of school.
There, as I watched the world go by, smut came from nowhere and seeped into every corner of my consciousness! I swear I truly have no idea at all why I was suddenly full of thoughts so kinky that they just begged to be written down and seriously played with.
I borrowed a pen from the waitress (I have had a pen in my bag ever since), and began to write on the paper napkin that had been holding my scone. (I have also had paper with me every day since!) I wrote the outlines of, what were to become, my very first short erotic story, Jen and Tim, and my first raunchy poem, Regrets.

Jen and Tim is a short, fun, spanking story about two people who liked to dress each other up (well, cross-dress each other up actually). It was taken by the wonderful Violet Blue back in 2005, and published in the Cleis Press anthology, Lips Like Sugar. (which co-incidentally is due to be rereleased this year) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lips-Like-Sugar-Violet-Blue/dp/1573448206/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348603567&sr=8-1
The poem that danced through my head to the tune of a rather famous Frank Sinatra number, was entitled Regrets, and was one of the earliest pieces to feature on the erotica web site Oysters and Chocolate.com. http://www.oystersandchocolate.com/Poetry/799/Regrets.aspx
And here it is! (Say it to the tune of My Way!)

Regrets
Regrets, I've had a few.
Most of them to do with you.
I should have shagged you on the floor.
In the kitchen; against a door.
I could have pressed you to a mirror,
And seen your sweat marks shine and shimmer.
Watched you spill your creamy cum
Across my tits, my face, my bum.
I was too refined to dare to ask
if you would like an anal blast.
And how I wish I hadn't been
so refined, so frightfully clean.
Although it was smashing, sexy, great,
I so regret that it's too late.

Over the year’s friends, family, and colleagues alike have asked me how I started on the road which has seen me move further and further down the S&M and BDSM road of literature.  They are intrigued to know where on earth these ideas came from.
There I was, a Mum of two, an archaeologist and medieval historian, who had always been an avid reader (although not of erotica), but hadn’t written anything fictional since I’d been at school, abruptly bursting with plotlines that weren’t just sexy, but were of the kinkier, harsher, end of the erotica scale.

I wish I knew! All I was sure about was that once those first two pieces had been accepted, I was addicted. For the first time in my life, I knew what I wanted to do, and what I felt happy doing. I still can’t quite believe how lucky I have been (and luck does pay a HUGE part in the life of any writer).

That first story and poem led to over 60 more such works in various anthologies, my first solo paperback anthology, The Collector, then my first solo e-anthology, Quick Kink One, and on to my first full length novel, The Perfect Submissive, and my first novella, the ultra-naughty, Not Her Type: Erotic Adventures With A Delivery Man soon following that.

So here I am, 7 years on from autumn 2005, still writing erotic short stories, novellas, and novels- and still absolutely loving it. I wonder what my next first will be...

Huge thanks to Midnite for inviting me to come and visit today!

Thank you so much Kay for joining me on Midnight Boudoir today its been a wonderful insight to how you got started and we are all so glad you went into the cafe that day, that chocolate scone must have been your muse, great excuse to treat yourself more often. The poem is brilliant you made me laugh and I loved how the words fit perfectly with "My Way" I loved it.
Its fascinating to read that you are a historian and archaeologist, its refreshing to find a sexy Mum with degrees to change those old fashion stuffy ideals of what an archaeologist should be or look like.

I have recently had the pleasure of reading quite a few of Kay's books for which she is known for her wonderful style of naughty but steamy BDSM erotica with her imaginative plots and relatable characters.

So Im really looking forward to reading Kay's next full novel "Making Him Wait" by Sweetmeat Press coming out this month and I know you are too, not long to wait now girls....

All my thanks to Kay for taking the time to write this post especially for MB
