Hungarian Rhapsody - The Secret Library

Edited by Antonia Adams

I love the idea of this new set of books called The secret library, velvet bound and beautifully designed so no one realises you are reading such erotica, no side ways glances on the train as people see the front page emblazoned with naked couples clearly in the throes of ecstasy; as you quickly try and hide the front cover with your hands to carry on reading the pages completely embarrassed.

Even the back of the book which other people will see you would have no idea what is in those hot steamy covers.
I have to show you the sumptuous velvet flock and stunning flower and leaf designs that really make this set of books a beautiful set to collect.

Each one of the 6 books in the secret library comes in a different colour under the black velvet, but Hungarian Rhapsody comes in the most gorgeous purple and black flock, so soft to touch and after a quick blow to get rid of the loose flock it now doesn't moult at all; the flock is well stuck and doesn't cover everything you touch.
Each book contains 3 novellas written by 3 popular writers edited by Antonia Adams a great writer herself. So those of you that enjoy reading shorter stories will love just grabbing bits of these stories which are on average of 70 pages each during coffee breaks, lunch breaks and of course before bed; but dont expect to get to sleep as you will want to read all 3 of these brilliant stories.

All three novellas contain a strong engaging male hero with a level of conflict and an excellently written explicit ending in all 3 books.

Hungarian Rhapsody by Justine Elyot
Ruby had no idea what to expect from her trip to Budapest, but a strange man in her bed on her first night probably wasn’t it. Once the mistake is ironed out, though, and introductions made, she finds herself strangely drawn to the handsome Hungarian, despite her vow of holiday celibacy. Does Janos have what it takes to break her resolve and discover the secrets she is hiding, or will she be able to resist his increasingly wild seduction tactics? Against the romantic backdrop of a city made for lovers, personalities clash. They also bump. And grind.

Hungarian Rhapsody is the first Novella in the set of 3 and is set in Budapest. Justine must have extensive knowledge of this city as I felt I was there with detailed descriptions of roads and parts of the city; a gorgeous touch to the book.
I love the connection between the couple that sometimes isn't there in a novel, you watch Ruby begin to relax and enjoy being treated like a real woman after what she has been through, we see her realise she can enjoy love and sex again within a relationship .
The writer makes us believe Janos is just another man who only wants one thing; but the story allows us to get to know him better too, finding out he is very much a deep hearted romantic that we want to see in every man, has Justine created our perfect man in print.....!
I loved this story it flowed so well and you could feel the sexual tension start to grow between the couple ending in an hot steamy encounter filled with emotion, it felt so real and was beautifully written with no sleaze, the storyline and the connection between this couple was great to follow, making you want to see them to get together.

I am Justine Elyot. I love to write erotica and erotic romance. Elements you are likely to find in my work include: moustachioed melodrama villains, whips, wisecracks, knights in tarnished armour, damsels under duress, lovers, leather, aquiline features, references to popular songs. I massively overuse qualifiers like ‘really’, ‘quite’, ‘actually’ etc. and can’t resist the temptation to substitute long words for ‘said’. Reviewers either rave or cringe, with very little middle reactive ground (insert Marmite cliche here). Which will you do?
Justine Elyot is the author of Xcite novel Meeting Her Match and the Black Lace title On Demand as well as a growing body of short fiction published by Black Lace, Xcite and Cleis Press.  She likes to explore the dark side of desire in her writing. She lives by the sea.

Restraints by Charlotte Stein
Marnie Lewis is certain that one of her friends – handsome but awkward Brandon– hates her guts. The last thing she wants to do is go on a luscious weekend away with him and a few other buddies, to a cabin in the woods. But when she catches Brandon doing something very dirty after a night spent listening to her relate some of her sexcapades to everyone, she can’t resist pushing his buttons a little harder. He might seem like a prude, but Marnie suspects he likes a little dirty talk. And Marnie has no problems inciting his long dormant desires

A cabin in the heart of the woods is a great setting for this sexy novella from Charlotte Stein; I have read another of her books "Telling Tales" (see my review here) and I absolutely adore her style of writing and this was no exception. In fact it was quite a similar storyline again which I loved.
Marnie is a very sexually outspoken woman and she assumes when Brandon walks off or scoffs at her it was a result of being a boring a prude, so instead of excepting a weekend of awkwardness she decides to confront him to force him to explain why he hates her so much.
I loved the connection between Marnie and Brandon and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her find her inner dominatrix and being able to watch Brandon gain the confidence he never had. The sex is vanilla but extremely sexy and an entirely hot read. I couldn't put this story down I to read it to the end.
The story flows well with a few smiles and a great build up of sexual tension, another great read from Charlotte Stein and and some very erotic writing with a brilliant sexy twist at the end.

Charlotte Stein
Charlotte Stein has written over thirty short stories, novellas and novels, including entries in The Mammoth Book of Hot Romance and Best New Erotica 10. Her collection of short stories was named one of the best erotic romances of 2009 by Michelle Buonfiglio, and her first novel, Control, was recently called "...a non-stop crazy hot sex book". When not writing non-stop crazy hot sex books, she can be found eating jelly turtles, watching terrible sitcoms and occasionally lusting after hunks. She lives in West Yorkshire with her husband and their imaginary dog, and can be found here: www.themightycharlottestein.blogspot.com

A Sticky Situation by Kay Jaybee
If there is a paving stone to trip over, or a drink to knock over, then Sally Briers will trip over it or spill it. Yet somehow Sally is the successful face of marketing for a major pharmaceutical company; much to the disbelief of her new boss, Cameron James.
Forced to work together on a week-long conference in an Oxford hotel, Sally is dreading spending so much time with arrogant new boy Cameron, whose presence somehow makes her even clumsier than usual.
Cameron, on the other hand, just hopes he’ll be able to stay professional, and keep his irrational desire to lick up all the accidentally split food and drink that is permanently to be found down Sally’s temptingly curvy body, all to himself.

This novella was a great natural love hate relationship a great name for the story too, its just about sums it up in 3 words. A brilliantly written novella that flows well and is an easy read you cant put down; I felt connected with the two characters straight away especially Sally as I too have her clumsy faults, I just wish I could make my clumsiness that erotic...hmmmm.....off to think!

I loved how her character flaws and clumsiness has been turned into something so very erotic a great twist to the story. The build up to the sex scenes were amazing you can feel the sexual tension between them. Sex was pretty vanilla but oh boy was it hot, you dont need BDSM and spanking in every story to be a great read I promise you, the twist with using food as sex was stunningly sexy and a great erotic read, something that's never really turned me on to do myself; but I enjoyed being a voyeur and found it a great turn on to read.
9 1/2 weeks eat your heart out!

A great read from Kay Jaybee I will be looking for more of her work.

My Opinion
Its strange as I would always go for the more hardcore sex scenes type book, but the storylines from each one of these brilliant authors made a fantastic read. I felt a great connection between all the couples and could feel the conflict between them, it takes a good erotic author to keep you hooked on the story lines with the sex just being an added bonus.
Despite all 3 sex scenes being quite vanilla, each was written well and dont think just because its vanilla its boring its certainly was NOT, they are all a very hot erotic sexy read; with cracking endings to all 3 novellas.
I cant actually say which story was my favourite as they were all brilliantly written and each being so completely different from one another.
But seriously all three novellas were expertly put together with their addictive reads. I would absolutely recommend this book and most probably any one of the series which I will be hoping to add to my book reviews too.

What I love about this series more is the fact they are trying to encourage more book reading not kindle downloads, I love my real books always have. always will, but sadly we are all being forced to buy a kindle or e-reader with so many books now only being published digitally. I too am having to consider buying a Kindle...argh...I so didn't want to; but its seems the only way to continue reading the books I love!
I love technology but I dont want to move with the times as I love the warm comforting feeling as it envelopes you in the smell, sound and texture of the paper. Not the cold metallic unfriendly robotic feel of an LCD unit.

Climbing down off my high horse.....

I adore the new velvet flock covers beautifully designed you will want to collect the rest as they will look stunning in a bookcase.. you know...those wooden things with shelves...!
Okay now I'll finish getting down off my high horse...

This book can easily be left on your bedside or coffee table and of course would make a beautiful gift to someone.
You are going to have to wait for this one though as its isn't out until June along with The Game but believe me its well worth the wait, just pick up one of the other 4 in the series I'm sure you wont be disappointed, although I have yet to read these, but all 6 books have some great authors and I look forward to reading them and bringing them to you.
